Bahrain to implement number of projects
(MENAFN) Bahrain's Ministry of Energy said that the kingdom is planning to develop water and electricity networks, in a project that is estimated to be worth up to USD4 million during the 2015-19 period, KUNA reported
The Ministry said that the aim of this plan is to keep pace with the urban development in the kingdom through implementing a number of development projects, which will include the construction of a new backbone transmission network at a voltage of 400 kV, with the envisioned network expected to also include the construction of 3 main transmission substations at the voltage of 400 kV.
The project, which will be financed by Kuwait, is expected to be fulfilled by 2017 and that is supervised by the Energy Water Association (EWA) which is also continuing its work on the implementation of a project of upgrading the 11kV high voltage network in the various governorates with the aim of further minimizing power interruptions with projections that work will be done by 2016, with these projects having an estimated cost of USD265 million.
The EWA is also in the process of implementing a number of development projects regarding the water network in the kingdom, at an estimated cost of USD182 million.
