    ME airlines supply 64 percent of global airfreight

    (MENAFN) According to the latest report by IATA Air Freight Market Analysis, Middle East airlines have contributed over 64 percent of the increase in worldwide airfreight capacity in the 12 months to November, Saudi Gazette reported.

    Middle East airlines have been responsible for carrying 38 percent of the increase in freight ton over the 12 months to November, due to an increase in the trade with the Middle East region as well as the success of the airlines at attracting airfreight to go through their hubs.

    IATA also said that air freight volumes were up 4.2 percent in November compared to a year ago, though it declined in comparison with October's 5.4 percent increase.

    During the first half of 2014, airfreight volumes and world trade overall declined but then they resumed their acceleration during the second half of last year, with increases registered in two main areas: Asia Pacific, which had 55 percent of the growth, and the Middle East that captured 38 percent of the growth
