Bahrain starts receiving Tubli expansion bids

(MENAFN) Bahrain is set to start receiving bids for an expansion project of Tubli wastewater treatment plant, Emirates 24\7 reported.

The project is set to be funded through aid from other Gulf countries. Ten countries from the region would bid for the project after being prequalified by the government in 2014.

The project is financed by the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development as part of a USD10 billion aid programme pledged by Kuwait and other oil-rich Gulf countries.

The expansion will nearly double up output capacity of Tubli plant in east Bahrain to 400,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d).

Tubli had a production capacity of around 54,000 cm/d in 1982 before three consecutive expansion projects increased it to about 200,000 dm/d in 2002.
