    Qatar, China sign USD8b infrastructure contracts in 2014

    (MENAFN) The Chinese government solidified its cooperation in the infrastructure sector by signing more than USD8 billion worth of contracts with Qatar in 2014, according to a Chinese Embassy's Economic and Commercial Office (ECO) official, Gulf Times reported.

    Chinese firms are taking hand in partaking in the Qatari projects. Their involvement is confined with civil construction works, building of roads, bridges, ports, and telecommunications infrastructure. The projects included are the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Qatar National Vision 2030.

    "Co-operation in the fields of financial services, aviation, and tourism is also processing well, which has become the new highlight of China and Qatar's economic and trade relationship. Qatar has become one of our most important business partners," the head of ECO said.
