Qatar foreign trade surplus decreases by 53.7 percent

(MENAFN) Qatari foreign trade surplus, which amounts to the remainder between overall exports and imports, decreased by 53.7 percent in the first quarter of the year, the Peninsula reported.

Qatar's trade gap of merchandise witnessed an excess of USD5.24 billion in March, marking a decrease of USD4.52 billion year-on-year. The decrease is attributed to lower exports of petroleum gases.

Nonetheless, the trade gap of merchandise declined by 9.6 percent, or by USD466.53 million compared to February 2015.

Qatar's total exports reached USD7.29 billion in March, marking another decline of 3.3 percent from the previous month.
