Jordan allocates USD350m for vital water project

(MENAFN) Jordan's Ministry of Water and Irrigation has started a USD305 million strategic scheme to supply the Kingdom's north governorates with 50 million cubic meters of water yearly for at least 20 years.

There's no secret to the fact that Jordan agonizes from water scarcity which has been progressively getting worse day by day, particularly in light of the Syrian refugee crisis, hence the program comes as a priority.

A USD150 million has been secured over grants and the rest through low interest's soft loans, and it's worth mentioning that the government has been working hard to stimulate and develop the economy.

Furthermore, this crucial project will basically deliver effective solutions for the water segment in most northern areas hosting Syrian refugees, where demand has shockingly increased by more than 40 percent.
