    Dubai to launch USD680m waste-to-energy project

    (MENAFN) Dubai Municipality declared a project is designed to be launched for the world's largest waste-to-energy construction plan in Al Warsan area.

    The plant, which is worth $680 million, aims to treat 1.82-million tonnes of solid waste per year, Dubai Municipality director-general Hussain Nasser Lootah confirmed.

    He also announced the plant to have sufficient capacity to produce electricity at 185 MW.

    The director-general stated "this will give a lot of support to maintain and achieve sustainability in Dubai. We are undertaking this project for the development of the city with the cooperation of our partner DEWA [the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority]."
