    Iran, Syria ink deal to set up combined cycle power plant

    (MENAFN) Iran's Mapna Group Company and Syria's Public Establishment of Electricity for Generation (PEEG) inked a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a power plant.

    Tehran Times daily reported that under the MoU, a 540 megawatt (MW) combined cycle power plant is to be built in Latakia, a port city in Syria.

    MAPNA Group's Managing Director Abbas Aliabadi penned the agreement with PEEG's Managing Director Mahmoud Ramadan on the sidelines of a meeting.

    The meeting on Tuesday was held in Tehran between Iran's minister of energy and his Syrian counterpart.

    The power plant project, valued at USD474 million, was confirmed to be launch by the start of next year.
