    Trade between Qatar, Switzerland jump 28 percent

    (MENAFN) Qatar registered USD3.7 billion in its bilateral trade volume with Switzerland for last year, marking a 28 percent boost compared to the USD2.9 billion recorded a year earlier.

    First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC) Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari revealed the figures while speaking to a Swiss trade delegation.

    During the meeting, the two sides explored means to strengthen trade ties along with expanding cooperation between Qatari and Swiss businessmen within various areas, including financial and banking services.

    "The State of Qatar and Switzerland have enjoyed good bilateral relations for more than 40 years. Their economic and trade ties have seen remarkable development within the past few years," the Qatari official affirmed.

    "Their combined value of trade exchange hit $3.7bn last year, registering an increase of 28 percent compared to 2017 which reached $2.9bn. Swiss exports to Qatar included premium watches and jewellery," Al Kuwari added.
