Beirut businesses to take tougher action against new taxes

(MENAFN) Beirut's business community is determined to assume even more aggressive steps in case the Lebanese government introduced new taxes into next year's budget.

Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut emphasized: "we refuse any taxes that may be added by the government because the country is suffering and it cannot take it anymore. Traders are going bankrupt and the growth is below 0 percent."

Businesses within Lebanon further called on the government to impose needed reforms and cancel a plan to slap fresh taxes, the chamber stressed.

Under the new 2020 budget, the Lebanese government will avoid imposing new taxes, as assured Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil earlier.
