    Tunisia's national production of phosphates to increase in 2020

    (MENAFN) According to Tunisian Minister of Industry Slim Feriani on Monday, Tunisia's national production of phosphates could increase from 4.1 million tonnes in 2019 to 5.5 to 6 million tonnes in 2020.


    As said by Feriani, "this increase would generate additional income in foreign currency equivalent to USD350 million," adding that, the estimated production volume of phosphates in 2020 will be the biggest since 2011.


    Feriani also said that, the government has reopened the Meknassy phosphate mine in Sidi Bouzid region, which had been blocked since 2013.


    He added, "This mine is expected to produce around 600,000 tonnes and create 460 jobs".
