Rain supplies Jordan's 15 major dams with 14 million cubic meters of water

(MENAFN) About 14 million cubic meters of water were supplied to the Kingdom's 15 main dams by the latest heavy downpours, increasing their full storage capacity to about 101.5 million cubic meters, or 30 percent, according to Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abul Saud.

At a storage capacity of about 8.5 million cubic meters, the King Talal Dam in the Jerash Governorate had "the lion's share" of the weather system and heavy rain, as said by Raed Abul Saud.

The minister also said that, "cumulative precipitation rate" since the start of the season across the Kingdom rose to 3,047 million cubic meters, about 37.2 percent of the long-term yearly rate of about 8.1 billion cubic meters.

The most recent rains were heavier in the Central areas, mainly in Amman, with a share of about 566 million cubic meters of precipitation that fell on all regions in the last depression, as said by the minister.
