Beyond $5 billion energy investments to be attracted in Jordan

(MENAFN)Based on a statement delivered by Jumaa Al-Abadi, the Kingdom's permanent representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and ambassador to the UAE, the production and use of renewable energy in Jordan has been successfully increased and more than $5 billion investments are to be attracted. In order to attract clean energy and energy competence investments, Jordan, since 2014, has designed a legislative and regulatory environment which in turn enables it to build up solar and wind energy projects that supply clean electricity to the national grid with a total amount of about 1500 megawatts or 15 percent of the total electricity produced, according to what was reported by Al-Abadi at the head of the Jordan's deputation to the 10th session of IRENA assembly in Abu Dhabi.Compared with only 1 percent in 2014, clean energy generation is expected by Al-Abbadi to increase to 20 percent of the total power production by 2021.According to him, Jordan tanks first in the Middle East and North Africa region, and third globally, concerning legislative environment and business doing in the renewable energy field
