Short-term external debt stock totals USD123.6 billion: Turkey
(MENAFN) Turkey's short-term external debt stock amounted to USD123.6 billion starting from end-January, as said in a report by Turkey's Central Bank.
The bank said that, in comparison with the end of 2019, the external debt stock, maturing within one year or less, stayed continuous; the currency breakdown of the debt stock included 48.8 percent USD, 30 percent euro, 13.8 percent Turkish lira and 7.4 percent other currencies.
The bank also said that, short-term external debt stock of lenders climbed 1 percent to USD56.8 billion while other sectors witnessed a 1 percent decrease to USD58.4 billion and the rest of the amount, about USD8.4 billion belonged to the bank.
The bank added that, "from the borrowers' side, the short-term debt of public sector, which consists of public banks, increased by 7.7 percent to USD23.4 billion and the short-term debt of private sector decreased by 1.8 percent to USD91.7 billion compared to the end of 2019".
