FAO forecasts minor increase in area under wheat farming in Iran

(MENAFN) On Tuesday July 21United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has approximated that the area under wheat farming in Iran will increase faintly in 2020, reliefweb.int published.

FAO stated in an account that the placed area is approximated at about 6 million hectares, a small boost from the 5.85 million hectares planted in the preceding year.

Farming of the 2020 winter season wheat, the principal cereal crop, initiated in June and was finished in mid July.

Concerning one third of the wheat fields are irrigated and the rest is rainfed, making production extremely vulnerable to rainwater difference, though early season aridness prevailed in parts of the country up to December 2019, plentiful rain amounts since January refilled soil dampness.
