    Contemporary irrigation being instituted in 10,000 hectares of South Khorasan

    (MENAFN) Ali-Morad Akbari the deputy agriculture minister for water and soil affairs stated that Modern irrigation systems are being founded in 10,000 hectares of farmlands in South Khorasan Province, east of Iran, in the present Iranian agenda year (began on March 20).

    The ministry's plan manager for the talked about growth plan stated in mid-September that subsequent to the Iranian Agriculture Ministry's new irrigation systems growth plan, 174,000 hectares of farmlands have been prepared with modern irrigation systems in the present year.

    Abbas Zare stated that the purpose of applying the plan of modern irrigation systems is to increase the output and sustainability of water and soil funds in the country to guarantee the sustainable manufacture of agricultural goods.

    Zare stated that "Following the support of the government and the Leader for this project, of 8.7 million hectares of the country's total irrigated lands, so far about 2.4 million hectares have been equipped with modern systems,".
