    61.8M people travel aboard Turkish airlines in 2020's first nine months

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish airport authority, the country"s airports registered a total of 61.76 million air passengers, including transit passengers traveled through amid the period between January-September.

    The General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) said on Wednesday that the figure registered in the previous ninth months indicated a 61.8-percent decline compared to the same period of the last year.

    The fall stemmed from global coronavirus-related restrictions.

    Domestic passenger numbers decreased 50.9 percent, reaching 37.4 million, whereas 24.3 million passengers took international flights, down 71.4 percent, amid the same period.
    Turkish airports aided 785,240 planes including overflights in the first nine months of 2020, indicating an annual drop of 49.4 percent.
