    Iran: Drinking water in rural regions to reach 10.2 M

    (MENAFN)the population in the rural regions which benefit from sure drinking water providing will come on at 10.2 million by the end of this government's incumbency (August), according to Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian.

    About eight million people in 11,962 villages have been provided with drinking water in this government"s incumbency, and the number will stand at 9.3 million by the end of this Iranian year, he further said.

    30 villages are provided with drinking water every week on average in the framework of the Energy Ministry"s A-B-Iran program.

    Every week a number of energy projects have been launched across the country, since the beginning of the first phase of the A-B-Iran scheme [the acronyms A and B stand for water, electricity in Persian] in the past year.
