IHS Markit Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers’ Index increases to 56.4 in May

(MENAFN)A survey released recently showed that Saudi Arabian non-oil business activity increased at its best volume since December 2017, as new business and export orders improved.

As pandemic restrictions started to be eased, 30 percent of companies said they witnessed an increase in business activity, and export orders improved at the best rate since 2015.

As activity is returning to its normal rate after the pandemic, the impact has not yet been felt in staffing; hiring improved for the second month in a row, but the pace slowed.

For the second month consecutively, the seasonally adjusted IHS Markit Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) increased, from 55.2 in April to 56.4 in last month. A score above 50 indicates expansion, as below 50 points to contraction.
