Egypt aims to start providing Lebanon with gas by 2022

(MENAFN) Egypt’s petroleum minister stated that the country aims to begin providing gas to Lebanon by early 2022, to aid in reducing the energy catastrophe in the nation.

On Tuesday, Tarek El Molla stated to reporters on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum and Exhibition Conference that Egypt is going to transport up to 65 million cubic feet of gas for each day to Lebanon.

He also mentioned, “we are going to supply them with what they are requesting. We are just doing due diligence and checking the pipelines through Jordan and Syria.”

Lebanon has been facing harsh energy problem that has almost paralyzed its economy. The nation went through a total power outage last month as the two energy stations providing the national grid ran out of gas.
