    Turkey’s number of overseas travelers in October, down by 19 percent before pandemic

    (MENAFN) On Monday, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry showed the figure of overseas travelers visiting Turkey increased to two folds on an annual basis to reach 3.5 million in October.

    Data demonstrated the number was lower by 19 percent in comparison to its level before the Pandemic of 4.3 million foreign visitors in October 2019. Antalya resort city located in the Mediterranean was the top attraction for overseas travelers, hosting around 1.6 million this October.

    Turkey's biggest city by population, Istanbul drew 1.2 million overseas visitors and Edirne located in northwestern Turkey, which is on the border between Bulgaria and Greece, accommodated 244,002 foreign tourists in the mentioned month.

    The nation welcomed 9.8 million travelers, involving Turkish residents living outside of Turkey, in October. Russians formed 26 percent or 905,379 of all tourists, then followed by 476,370 Germans, 217,608 Ukrainians, 171,601 Bulgarians, as well as 155,714 Iranians.
