    Turkey aims to make USD22b from tourism during this year

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish culture and tourism minister statement on Wednesday, the country wants to make USD22 billion from tourism during this year by hosting over 28 million overseas tourists.

    Remembering the tourism revenue amounted at USD12.1 billion in 2020, when nation’s had strict Covid-19 pandemic restrictions such as travel bans and lockdowns, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the country’s tourism revenue hit USD16.8 billion during the period from January till September of this present year.

    Ersoy noted while talking at the country’s main economic occasion, Uludag Economy Summit, that started on Wednesday, that the country’s advertising efforts have a significant part in the rebound.

    The summit that went on for two days has been planned since 2012 at a ski resort in the northwestern province of Bursa whereas the previous two events were hosted online due to Covid-19 restrictions. Ersoy also mentioned that the tourism industry is one of the most impacted sectors from the pandemic and the country had to put its tourism goals on hold.
