    Date export in Iran jumps 14 percent

    (MENAFN) According to an Iranian official with Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), Iran’s export of dates amounted at 137,000 tons during the period from March 21 till October 22 of the present Iranian calendar year, which was 14 percent higher than the exported quantity during the corresponding time span of last year.

    Mahmoud Bazari, director-general of TPO’s Coordination Office for Development of Agro Products Export and Processing Industries, also stated that the country’s date export has increased 10 percent regarding value versus the same time frame of the previous year.

    The official mentioned India, France, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Britain, the U.S., Indonesia, Germany, the Netherlands, as well as Canada as the main purchasers of Iranian date.

    Based on the head of National Association of Iranian Dates (NAID), there is the volume for the export of USD1 billion of dates from the nation in one year.
