Iraq aims to increase gas imports from Iran

(MENAFN) According to IRNA’s statement citing the Iranian ministry spokesman Ahmed Mousa, Iraq's Ministry of Electricity has uttered readiness for boosting natural gas imports from Iran.

Mousa expressed that the ministry is discussing the growth with Iranian authorities and is going to send off a delegation to Tehran for this matter. He did not provide further details regarding the members of the commission or when is their trip to Iran.

The official expressed that the ministry is also working along the Iranian Oil Ministry to import liquid fuel so as to compensate for deficiencies and supply alternative fuel to run factories that have been impacted by reduced gas imports from Iran.

The Islamic Republic has reduced its gas exports to Iraq to about five million cubic meters a day (mcm/d), from its last 50 mcm/d because of the fiscal problems between both nations.
