    Turkey’s account balance registers USD3.16b surplus

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish Central Bank announcement on Monday, the country’s present account balance registered a USD3.16 billion surplus this October, increasing from a USD93 million deficit in October of last year.

    Based on figures published by the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT), the nation’s 12-month rolling deficit amounted at 15.4 billion.

    The bank stated, “this development is mainly driven by the net inflow of USD146 million in the goods item, against the deficit of USD1.3 billion observed in October of last year and the net inflow of USD3.9 billion in services item increasing by USD1.8 billion.”

    Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati stated that October’s number of USD3.16 billion was the country’s highest monthly surplus for the past three years.
