    Oil ministry urges primary sectors to make investments in gas sector

    (MENAFN) According to Shana, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for planning Houshang Falahatian has urged the nation’s primary industries particularly the steel sector, to make investments in gas sector expansion schemes.

    Falahatian has disapproved of the unevenness of growth between oil and gas sectors and expressed that the nation’s gas sector presently needs more than USD80 billion on investment.

    Based on the official, if the present trend carries on, the natural gas deficiency in the nation in the cold months of the year is going to jump from 200 million cubic meters for a day to around 250 million cubic meters during the Iranian calendar year 1404 (starts in March 2025) and over 350 million cubic meters in 1410 (begins in March 2031).

    Mentioning that the analysis of gas consumption in the steel sector for the last four years demonstrates a yearly increase of around 13.7 percent, Falahatian stated: "This is while the average annual growth of gas consumption in the petrochemical and cement industries in the said period, has been 8.1 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively, and the average growth of natural gas injection into the national gas network was 5.2 percent.”
