Unemployment between Saudi citizens drops 10.1pct in Q1
(MENAFN) As shown by official data unemployment between citizens in Saudi Arabia dropped to 10.1 percent in the January-March period of this year from 11 percent in the October-December period of last year.
This is the lowest rate since the April-June quarter of 2016, as shown by data compiled by Arab News, based on numbers issued by the General Authority for Statistics, also known as GASTAT.
The level of unemployment decreased in quicker pace between Saudi women, falling by 3.2 percentage points to reach 20.2 percent.
During the same period, for Saudi men the indicator declined slightly with only 0.1 percentage points to reach 5.1 percent.
As for non-Saudis, the level of unemployment dropped 0.7 percentage points to 2.2 percent in the January-March period of this year.
It fell 0.4 percentage points to 1.6 percent between non-Saudi men, as well by 2.6 percentage points to 6.4 percent between non-Saudi women.
The Kingdom's entire rate of unemployment — including Saudis and non-Saudis — slipped by 0.9 percentage points to reach 6.0 percent in the stated period of 2022.
