Turkish Airlines Evacuates over 400,000 Earthquake Victims from Turkey's Quake-hit Provinces
(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Turkey, has played a significant role in providing relief efforts for victims of the recent earthquakes that struck several provinces of the country. According to the airline's general manager, Bilal Eksi, Turkish Airlines has evacuated a total of 417,199 earthquake victims from the affected areas, as of Wednesday. This was accomplished through 2,442 round trip flights, which provided aid to the victims and rescued search and rescue staff and aid personnel from the provinces.
In addition to transporting the victims and personnel, Turkish Airlines also operated 418 cargo flights, carrying a total of 16,062 tons of aid material to the disaster zone. The airline has been actively involved in delivering essential supplies to the affected areas since the earthquakes occurred on February 6. The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaras and struck 10 other provinces, including Hatay, Gaziantep, Adiyaman, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Osmaniye, Sanliurfa, and Elazig.
The death toll from the earthquakes has exceeded 45,000, and the Turkish government and its agencies have been working tirelessly to provide support to the victims. Turkish Airlines' efforts have been instrumental in transporting people and supplies to the affected areas, and the airline's management has been commended for its swift response and efforts to aid those in need. The company's commitment to providing aid and support to its fellow citizens during this difficult time has earned it widespread praise and recognition.
