Saudi Arabia's Air Navigation Services Launches Nera to Enhance Efficiency in Aviation Sector
(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's Air Navigation Services Co. has launched a new firm called Nera to enhance efficiency in the Kingdom's aviation sector. The company will implement and manage projects in the field of civil aviation and air navigation in Saudi Arabia, providing technical and operational solutions to improve efficiency while complying with international safety standards. Nera will offer services in acquiring, defining, and outlining technical specifications and requirements for automation and CNS systems and monitor the entire installation process. The launch of Nera comes as Saudi Arabia aims to host 330 million passengers by 2030 and deliver SAR 280 billion (USD75 billion) to the national gross domestic product by the same year.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia announced a USD37 billion deal with US firm Boeing to manufacture up to 121 aircraft to help launch the Kingdom's new airline. The aviation sector, which is rebounding after the pandemic, is expected to be an essential catalyst for the growth of the entire Gulf Cooperation Council's tourism market. The growth of the Kingdom's aviation sector will help smaller economies integrate with the larger global economy in Saudi Arabia, according to Khalid Al-Falih, the Saudi investment minister.
The aviation sector incurred a loss of USD52 billion due to the pandemic, but it is now recovering. Speaking at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh last year, Faisal Al-Ibrahim, the minister of economy, said the aviation sector would deliver SAR 280 billion (USD75 billion) to Saudi Arabia's national gross domestic product by 2030. Jeddah to Cairo was the busiest route in terms of international flights, while Riyadh to Jeddah was the busiest domestic route, Al-Ibrahim added.
Nera's launch will help Saudi Arabia achieve its goal of hosting 330 million passengers by 2030. The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, said during an interview on the Arab News talk show Frankly Speaking that the Kingdom's growth in the aviation sector would be an essential catalyst for the growth of the entire Gulf Cooperation Council's tourism market. The launch of Nera is a step towards enhancing efficiency in the Kingdom's aviation sector and improving its contribution to the country's economy.
