Almosafer Reports Strong Domestic Tourism in Saudi Arabia

(MENAFN) Despite the resumption of international travel, domestic tourism in Saudi Arabia continues to remain strong, according to Almosafer, the leading company in the sector. The company's CEO, Muzammil Ahussain, made the comments following the signing of a deal between the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) and Almosafer at the Arabian Travel Market 2023 in Dubai. The agreement aims to promote Saudi Arabia as one of the top travel destinations in the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Ahussain reflected on a report published by his company that showed domestic bookings made up 56 percent of all bookings so far this year, up from 47 percent for the same period in 2019 before the pandemic. He said that people are keen on traveling within the Kingdom, and the number of domestic tourists is steadily rising. As per the agreement signed at the industry event in Dubai, Almosafer will help promote domestic tourism to its business customers in the Middle East and North Africa region through its Hajj and Umrah tour operator Mawasim and its destination management company Discover Saudi.

Ahussain said that Almosafer serves several different segments, providing a B2C channel for customers in Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The company provides access to Saudi Arabia, including tours to Makkah, Madinah, and other parts of the Kingdom. Almosafer has partnered with the STA, Saudia's Alfursan, and Al Rajhi Bank's Mokafaa loyalty programs to promote tourism in the Kingdom.

The deal signed between the STA and Almosafer aims to promote Saudi Arabia as a top travel destination in the region. The agreement was signed by Munirah Abanomy, head of marketing partnerships for the Middle East and Africa at the STA, and Fahad Al-Obailan, chief tourism officer at Almosafer. The promotion of domestic tourism is a crucial aspect of the Kingdom's efforts to boost the tourism sector and attract visitors from around the world.

Almosafer's focus on domestic tourism is in line with the trend seen in many other countries, where people are choosing to travel domestically rather than internationally. As the number of domestic tourists in Saudi Arabia continues to rise, the tourism industry is expected to play an increasingly significant role in the country's economic growth. The partnership between the STA and Almosafer is expected to further promote tourism in the Kingdom and attract visitors from around the region.
