    Borsa Istanbul Surges 3.2 percent as Turkey's Benchmark Stock Exchange Ends on Positive Note

    (MENAFN) Türkiye's benchmark stock exchange, Borsa Istanbul, experienced a significant surge on Wednesday, with the BIST 100 index closing at 5,561.18 points, marking a remarkable increase of 3.2 percent compared to the previous day's close. The trading day commenced with the index starting at 5,515.87 points, and it gained 172.38 points by the end of the day.

    Throughout Wednesday's trading session, the BIST 100 index recorded a daily low of 5,561.18 points and reached a high of 5,515.87 points. The total market value of the BIST 100 index stood at approximately 4.64 trillion Turkish liras (USD201.6 billion) at the close of the market. The daily trading volume was reported at 116.6 billion Turkish liras (USD5.05 billion).

    Within the BIST 100 index, 85 stocks witnessed an increase in value, while 15 stocks experienced a decline compared to the previous day's close, demonstrating overall positive market sentiment.

    In terms of other key indicators, the price of one ounce of gold was USD1,966.55, and the cost of Brent crude oil stood around USD77.45 per barrel at 6:50 p.m. local time (1550GMT). The exchange rates against the Turkish lira were recorded as 23.1900 for the US dollar, 24.9780 for the euro, and 28.8870 for the British pound.
