Qatar Petroleum buys 30 percent interest in Moroccan blocks

(MENAFN) Qatar Petroleum and Italy's Eni penned an agreement to own a participating interest of 30 percent in Morocco's Tarfaya Shallow Exploration Permi.

Tarfaya Shallow Exploration Permit consists of twelve neighboring offshore blocks located along the Moroccan Atlantic coast.

Morocco however is required to grant regulatory approvals for the participating interest deal secured between the Qatari and Italian sides.

Under the pact, Qatar Petroleum will own 30 percent while Eni will be holding 45 percent and the Moroccan Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) will be left with 25 percent.
