    Qatar Central Bank sees expansion in official reserves, assets in February 2020

    (MENAFN) Central bank data showed that, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) saw a robust expansion in the official reserves and thus assets in February 2020 over faster appreciation of its foreign securities portfolio.


    While the foreign securities portfolio increased over 84 percent yearly, the QCB's total reserves and assets rose 11 percent and 3 percent respectively; indicating Qatar's larger say in the global capital markets.


    Total reserves increased over 11 percent yearly to QR200.62 billion with official reserves totaling QR147.05 billion and other liquid assets in foreign currency deposits at QR53.57 billion at the end of February 29, 2020.


    In comparison with QR44.48 billion in 2019, the central bank's foreign securities portfolio reached QR81.94 billion in February 2020; it was about 56 percent of the total official income during the period.
